My Fist, Your Mouth, Her Scars

she wishes
that she'll die
before they fight again
she wants to lie
so that she'll find herself again
she wishes
that she'll fly
because staying is making her cry.

he notices her
standing beside the boy
with spiking hair and green eyes
his face filled with pure joy
he wishes that the wings he's giving her
are just of a toy's
because flying will make his heart be destroyed.

he notices him
standing beside the park gate
blue eyes and blonde hair
those eyes so bluntly stare
and Paul knows it's not fair.

his mouth curves into a line
and that lines mean go away
because you're making her
want to stay

she knows that she wants to fly
she has to pick from green and blue wings
she's confused and scared
her heart has a scarred ring
and the demons in her head sing

green eyes
watch her
blue eyes
want her
green eyes
envy her
blue eyes
love her
green eyes
will never love her

but she picks green
and the blue-eyed boy has seen
his heart makes a scene
his fists clutch, he wants sweet morphine

his fist
hits Paul's stomach hard
Paul opens his mouth
screams heard from the graveyard
blood splutters out of his mouth
and he knows in what book he's starred
horror everywhere
she knows her heart's forever scarred

she can't fly
if her wings are scarred
so she wants
for the day she dies

x

so she can take Cody's heart
up in the sky to heal her heart
and make it a work of blood art
and she gets to watch him everyday
her blue eyes say "sweetheart."
